This Zoom session will present a gentle meander through the origins, development, and changing fortunes of the Abbey Line over the last 160 years – as seen through the eyes of a long-time admirer.
Dave Horton was born and bred in Watford and harbours an eternal fondness for the Abbey Line as well as a passionate belief in the value of Community Railways. For many years, he was actively involved with ABFLY (as Membership Secretary and then Chairman), as well as the setting up of the Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership in 2005. In 2016 he stepped down to concentrate on the restoration of Bricket Wood station which should finally come to fruition in 2021.
Dave is also a rolling stock engineer in the rail industry, being Chief Engineer of ‘Vivarail’, the UK company establishing itself as a provider of low emission trains which are particularly well suited to branch lines.
We are extremely happy that Dave has agreed to give this talk as we think it will be really interesting and we hope you will feel so as well. We will send out the connection details closer to the time, but don’t forget to put this in your diary.
