THE COMMON

(Two walks) starting from Bricket Wood, a 1.5 mile or 4 mile circular walk

In Bricket Wood

Although the Abbey Flyer links two major population centres in South-West Hertfordshire, there are parts of the line that can still be described as truly rural, despite being a mere 6.5 miles in length.

Once beyond the housing estates of North Watford and Garston, the line enters the extensive Bricket Wood, before joining the Ver Valley for its arrival, via How Wood and Park Street, into St Albans.

ABFLY, in partnership with various local and national bodies, have set up four distinct walks, each starting and finishing from a different station on the branch, which are designed to promote use of the Abbey Flyer for recreational purposes and to encourage people to explore the local countryside.
