Line History

Please join us. You will receive up to three informative newsletters per annum and your own pocket-sized copy of the branch line timetable every time it is changed.

Each year we hold an AGM as well as a members' meeting when we invite the railway operators and other authorities to explain their plans. This gives members an ideal opportunity to ask questions!

The committee also meets with the Train Operator every 2-3 months to share practical day-to-day concerns brought up by members. We also represent the users to other relevant bodies such as the Association of Community Railway Partnerships (ACORP), as well as local councils.

Those joining ABFLY will also now automatically become members of the Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership. Any ideas or suggestions you have for the line should be directed through our committee (see Contact page) or go straight to the Community Rail Officer, whose details can be found on the CRP website at www.abbeyline.org.uk.

Minimum subscription of £3 covers one or more adults sharing a newsletter. No charge for children. Additional donations are always welcome and help the branch line campaign. So please join ABFLY by doing one of the following things:

1) Download and fill in the application form and return completed, together with your remittance (£3 minimum, with cheques payable to "Abbey Flyer Users Group" please) to the ABFLY membership secretary:

David Horton
139 Westfield Avenue
Watford
Herts.

2) If you have problems downloading the above, or would prefer to be sent a copy, please phone or e-mail David Horton using the information given below and it will be arranged. Please quote your name, address and phone number in any messages you leave!

If you wish to drop your membership application off by hand, the above address is located about 10mins walk from Watford North station. Turn right out of the station - right again into Southfield Avenue - then first left and that is Westfield Avenue. Keep walking until you reach a crossroads with Knutsford Avenue. Westfield Avenue continues across the junction, and number 139 is right at the very bottom of the road, after two bends in the road!

Thank you for your support.
